The life and times of Jewish Italian chemist and writer Primo Levi (John Turturro) provide the basis of this biographical drama that depicts the late author's nine month journey home following his release from the Auschwitz concentration camp. Levi's long, circuitous trip took him from Poland to Russia, Rumania, Hungary, Austria, and Germany before finally reaching his home in Italy.

"Passionate and involving! John Turturro gives the performance of his life!"
- Thelma Adams, NEW YORK POST

"An absorbing epic."
- Andrew Johnston, TIME OUT NEW YORK

"A classic memoir stirringly brought to the screen."
